5th – 10th September
Every year during the month of September a wide community of people across the world take time to raise awareness and consider the impact of suicide in our communities.
This year “Choose Life” and North Ayrshire Citizens Advice Service are working together to deliver a local campaign that focuses on raising the awareness and helping to deliver activities in taking suicide prevention forward.
As a Charity, North Ayrshire Citizens Advice provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice in helping the people of North Ayrshire deal with real life issues. We know and understand that talking about suicide is difficult and the stigma attached prevents many people from seeking help or talking about how they are feeling. We want to help people understand and reassure them that the “art of conversation” is one way in which NACAS & Chooselife can help in making a positive difference.
We are asking people to help us tackle the issues of suicide by getting to know the signs and helping. If you suspect someone may be feeling suicidal, you could ask them as it could save their lives. If you feel more comfortable you just need to listen and show you care, then encourage them to get help, right now and talk to someone.
NACAS are just one of a number of organisations that can provide support and point you in the right direction of help and a listening ear. If you feel you need to talk or know of someone who would benefit from our help, then please contact your Citizens Advice Bureau on 01294 467848 or visit our new offices in Vernon Street, Saltcoats. It is important that everyone works towards the prevention of suicide and takes the opportunity to TALK or LISTEN.
